A combination of premium interior and exterior lighting for a new senior school
Cardijn College secured land next to its existing Marian Campus in South Australia. The plan was a dedicated Senior School Area with an exciting vision for its new facilities. As part of a larger plan, this stage 1A sought to open up new educational rooms for their seniors. Consequently, the electrical team were after a lighting manufacturer capable of handling the demands. Some lighting needed full customisation. Others needed exterior finishing for the car park. Above all, the emergency fittings needed to be up to Australian standards.
3D modelling, lighting simulations and manufacturing for the new education centre
The electrical contractors got in touch early to plan and quote for the site. With the architectural plans, our engineers developed models and lighting simulations. These mapped lux levels across every interior and exterior zone before installation began. The contractors could see exactly what they were getting. It also meant no surprises during the build.
For linear lighting, we recommended the LUS505 and LUS653R. They are manufactured in-house so they can be highly customised. Suspension kits were supplied for some. And others were recessed and installed directly into the ceiling. Our team manufactured both types to 3500K for bright, even lighting across large spaces.
Other spaces use XT LED panel lighting. Most were surface mounted, with the rest recessed into the ceiling. They have a lean, flat output with a slim profile perfect for general area lighting. Whereas service or utility areas used the IP65 rated VXW polycarbonate batten. Additionally, emergency lighting ran across the new building too. We supplied four types of luminaires from our emergency range. These met the full compliance required for school lighting in Australia. The EM5800, EM4000, EM4300S and EM5700 were a combined system to ensure safety.
Industralight is a manufacturer that can supply both interior and exterior architectural lighting. This works well for projects that need a full range, like this development. We specified the MK585 Mako series pole-mounted luminaire. And also FCM20 foundation cages to support the tapered rounded street poles. The poles were galvanised and powder coated for durability against the weather.
Every step of the way, our team stayed across the details with the electrical contractors. We ensured consistent updates from reviewing lighting simulations to delivery details.

An operational senior learning space
Stage 1A opened in January 2026. Renamed Laeken and Le Rosey, the new senior building and adjoining car park is now in use. The simulations translated directly to the finished result. Interior light levels hit the required lux targets in every room. The custom linear luminaires were manufactured to specifications and installed exactly as designed. Emergency luminaires are compliant across every occupied space. And the car park and exterior walkways are lit during early morning and late evenings. Industralight set the benchmark for premium architectural lighting throughout this new build. And as part of a larger master plan for the Marian Campus, we hope to see it continue. Stage 1B is due to open in 2027.
