Warehouse lighting that had to work harder at height
Gramline punches well above its weight in the Australian fencing industry. From their Smithfield facility, they manufacture and distribute fencing nationwide. It is a fast-moving operation, and the production floor needs to meet safety standards.
The ceiling height was the sticking point. As it was so high, the customer was uncertain about how much light a luminaire could emit. It would need to be powerful enough to reach the production floor where workers use heavy machinery daily.
In any case, poorly lit industrial workplaces increase the risk of accidents. SafeWork NSW highlights that inadequate lighting makes it harder for workers to:
- Identify hazards
- Read safety signage
- Navigate safely around equipment
You can read more on the SafeWork NSW lighting guidance page. Gramline needed lighting that would reach the full floor area and stand up to the demands of an active manufacturing environment. They also needed a manufacturer in NSW who could produce a large amount of stock and deliver to the site.
Letting the product do the talking before the full order landed
As the customer was unsure, they chose to initially purchase four HB65X LED highbays. The stock was delivered to the Smithfield site and tested. And following that, the products were assessed on-site to check light spread and intensity. Once the customer was satisfied with the quality, the following 150 were supplied.

The IP65 rating also means the luminaires are built for the realities of a working warehouse. Dust, humidity, and the general wear of an industrial environment are taken into consideration during in product development. Yet these fittings are made to hold up against all types of conditions.
